Cate was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, before moving to Lexington to attend Transylvania University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She went on to complete her Juris Doctorate at Elon University in Greensboro, North Carolina. After graduating with her J.D., Catharine practiced as a private criminal defense attorney in North Carolina before returning to Louisville to work at Legal Aid. During her time there, she handled eviction cases and served as an Equal Justice Works Fellow advocating for victims of crime in Louisville’s West End. She held this position for two years before joining Suhre and Associates.
Cate is passionate about public service and serving her community. When she is not in court, Catharine enjoys painting, spending time outdoors, and exploring Louisville’s culinary scene. Her dog Sophie is her pride and joy. She is allegedly a mix of 19 different breeds and is described as 100 percent perfect.
Catharine attended James Graham Brown High School in Louisville where she graduated as one of the valedictorians. In college, she double minored in History and Political Science and was a member of the women’s lacrosse team.
